Abstract
The use of laparoscopy in the assessment of right iliac fossa (RIF) pain is increasing and the performance of laparoscopic appendicectomy is becoming ever more widespread. Doubts remain, however, regarding the true benefit of a laparoscopic approach over an appendicectomy as well as regarding safety and the implications for the supervision and training of junior surgeons. The aim of this study was to audit one year’s management of suspected appendicitis in our hospital.
