Abstract
Congenital anterior abdominal wall defect occurs commonly and requires specialized management. The commonest form is the Exomphalos. Fourteen cases of large exomphalos which have been treated at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City are presented. Three were minor Omphalocelem and 11 major omphalocele. All minor cases were treated by primary repair, with good results. Of the major cases 8 could not be treated by primary repair: two had torn sac and were treated with application of prosthetic bags and the remaining 6 were treated conservately by sterile dressing method. Results show that supervised conservative dressing is convenient and achieves good results. Nigerian Journal of Surgical Sciences Vol. 15(2) 2005: 71-73
