Management of Medical Complications in the Neurosciences Critical Care Unit

Abstract

Neurosciences critical care units (NSU) were designed for the care of neurologic and neurosurgical patients and, as we will discuss, virtually any medical complication can occur during their hospitalization in this unit. However, neurologic and neurosurgical patients have specific conditions that predispose them to developing certain complex clinical entities, which may not only influence mortality but also functional outcome in this patient population.
