Abstract
Orthodontic treatment is carried out throughout the mulit-disciplinary management of patients with cleft lip and palate. Permanent dentition is an important period for the treatment. Transverse maxillary deficiency is commonly present in the permanent dentition. Rational diagnosis and treatment of transverse maxillary deficiency are important to obtain optimal and stable result. Orthodontic treatment of transverse maxillary deficiency in the permanent dentition is discussed in the article. Key words: Cleft lip and palate; Maxilla; Transverse discrepancy
