Abstract

Abstract Dentistry has an array of treatment options to harmonise a smile with discoloured teeth. Bleaching is an extremely promising option. Bleaching is a safe and conservative approach to tackle discolorations, hence gaining wider acceptance. Intracoronal bleaching of non-vital teeth involves the use of oxidising agents within the coronal portion of an endodontically treated tooth to remove tooth discolouration. The objectives of treatment are to reduce or eliminate discolouration, improve the degree of coronal translucency and alleviate present and prevent future adverse clinical signs or symptoms. The successful outcome depends mainly on the cause, correct diagnosis, case selection and proper application of bleaching technique.
