Abstract

This paper describes a variant of scabies known as crusted scabies and reviews the range of topical products available to treat patients with typical and crusted scabies infestations. It also discusses clinical studies on the use of oral ivermectin and highlights the approach currently being taken to treat patients with crusted scabies in the Top End of the Northern Territory where the number of people presenting with this condition has increased in recent years.
