Abstract

While only a little over 2.5% of all nurse licensees have been disciplined, all nurses have an obligation to understand the laws and rules impacting their nursing practice and to be familiar with the complaint process and their rights and responsibilities. This article explains the entire process, including complaint filing, the types of violations reported, the investigation, the board of nursing's options, the nurse's rights, the types of resolutions, and the consequences for the nurse.
