Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of the article is to develop a mechanism for managing business systems in the conditions of the digital economy and sustainable development. The research used methods of induction, deduction, analysis, synthesis, comparison, inference, generalization, abstraction. The results of the study showed that it is worth taking into account such characteristics of the business environment of the 21st century as variability, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. It is noted that there are four management styles: 1st generation, 2nd generation, 4th generation management. 4th generation management is a signifi cant step forward through the interplay of eff ective management and increased productivity. Its key elements are quality, a scientifi c approach, and teamwork. Features of the business system in the conditions of the digital economy and sustainable development are highlighted, including complexity, uncertainty, multivariate, dynamism and variability, effi ciency, eff ectiveness, adaptability, fl exibility, level of digitalization. The main elements of the business system, such as image and branding, service, innovation, and production or consumption of services, are given. The characteristics of the waves of digital transformation (fi rst, second and third) are given. A mechanism for managing business systems in the conditions of the digital economy and sustainable development is proposed, which includes goals, principles, methods, levers, tools, and monitoring of changes.
