Abstract
This article provides healthcare assistants (HCAs) and assistant practitioners (APs) with an insight into the lymphatic system and the causes, characteristics and treatment of lymphoedema. The objective of the article is to highlight the fundamental aspects of the care of patients with lymphoedema, particularly those aspects of care which, it may be appropriate for HCAs and APs with the appropriate education and training to undertake.
