Abstract
This article reviews many aspects of the management of in-breast recurrence of breast cancer. Topics such as method of detection, prognostic significance, and the current standard of care are covered. In addition, new concepts in partial breast re-irradiation and re-operative sentinel node biopsy are discussed with relation to breast conservation for IBTR. Finally, special subgroups are addressed such as the elderly and the BRCA1 and 2 mutation carriers.
