Abstract

This article discusses insights from yoga philosophy and practise that will contribute to defining management and leadership in India. If India has to truly and authentically progress, she has to dig deeper roots into her own rich cultural past—like even a tree that grows taller digs its roots deeper. What we need is a critical review of our past integrating what is relevant and eschewing that is redundant. A highly motivated and enlightened workforce disciplined on the lines of yoga alone can accomplish such company goals. A yogi-worker is detached from the notion of oneself being just a combination of gunas and the hapless victim of the body-mind-ego complex. Sustained teamwork is not possible without being inspired by a higher goal such as the glory of one’s country, consumer satisfaction, wellbeing of all, reduced carbon footprint, green growth, stakeholder value, God realisation and self-actualization.
