Abstract

In the last two years there have been major changes in government funding of private psychiatry in Australia. These changes particularly affect those practising long term intensive psychiatric treatment (outside hospital). However die issues involved are very important for psychiatry as a whole, as they include our ways of understanding and measuring mental illness and intrusive, Managed Care approaches to treatment.
