Abstract
Endometriosis is a benign chronic inflammatory disease that mostly affects women of reproductive age. The disease is often associated with dysmenorrhoea, pelvic and non-menstrual pain, and infertility. NSAIDs and hormonal suppression therapies (i.e. estroprogestins and progestins) are generally used as first-line treatment to alleviate pain symptoms. Second-line options include other hormonal suppressants, such as gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists and antagonists and, less commonly, danazol and aromatase inhibitors.
