Abstract

A 72-year-old man presented to the emergency department with a puncture injury and focal swelling over the volar side of his left wrist (Figure 1A). On arrival, he had a sluggish appearance with a blood pressure of 174/91 mm Hg and a pulse rate of 65 beats/min. He reported that he was stung by a stingray while fishing. He also experienced severe wound pain, dizziness, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and lethargy.
