Abstract

The subject of the dissertation which produced these data was an analysis of the extent to which man modified the woodland of Cat Island, a small island in the Bahamas. The methods employed in the research were basically of two kinds: analysis of historical evidence for vegetation change, and analysis of the contemporary vegetation. The data file contains variables relating to a description of the woodland specie(s) found on the old field: age class, habitat type, height class, soil type, moisture class, distance class, and area covered by specie.
