Abstract
Purpose: There are a growing number of US women who prefer breast conservation surgery for a localized breast cancer in a previously conservatively treated breast despite a clear understanding that mastectomy is the treatment of choice for their condition. To address this population of women, we evaluated the conservative retreatment of women who have previously received lumpectomy followed by external beam radiation therapy with HDR brachytherapy using the MammoSite catheter device.
