Abstract

The business-to-consumer (B2C) aspect of electronic commerce (e-commerce) is the most visible business use of the Internet. The main objective of an e-commerce organization is to sell goods and services to its customer through internet. E-commerce is growing very fast and hence it is gaining ground as an accepted and used business paradigm over brick & mortar business. More and more business houses are implementing web sites providing functionality for performing commercial transactions over the internet. It is reasonable to say that the process of shopping on the internet is becoming very popular. The success of the e-commerce network of an organization mostly depends on a secure IT infrastructure (both software and hardware) of that network. There are various types of threats to the e-commerce network of an organization, but the malware attack is the most severe threat to the network of that organization. In this paper we have proposed a dynamic model to study the behavior of different classes of nodes due to spread of malware through the e-commerce network using botnet. A system of equations is also developed from the proposed model and numerical methods are employed to solve that model. Finally we have simulated the system through MATLAB and the results are analyzed at the end.
