Abstract

Malrotation of the intestine is not uncommon but its association with situs inversus appears to be rare. Of 40 consecutive patients with malrotation seen at this hospital during the past ten years, only two had complete situs inversus of the viscera. The case reported below had a situs inversus abdominalis only while the thoracic viscera were correctly positioned. We have been able to find only one similar case reported in the recent literature (Grob, 1953). The arrangement of the intestine in our patient is shown diagramatically in Fig. 1.
