Abstract

Swallowing function decreases with age, and it may be related to progression of poor nutritional state, frailty, and mortality risk. Sella-Weiss determined significant standardized regression coefficients for predicting frailty status from the Mini Nutritional Assessment - Short Form score, age, the Geriatric Depression Scale - Short Form score, and the Hebrew Eating Assessment Tool-10 score. These coefficients were −0.196, 0.038, 0.087, and 0.057, respectively [1]. Poor nutritional status, aging, depression, and dysphagia were significant predictors of frailty.
