Abstract

The head and neck, for this discussion, have been divided into three regions: the mouth, nose and neck. The predominant malignancy of the mouth region is the squamous cell carcinoma, well differentiated anteriorly toward the lips and poorly differentiated posteriorly; of the nasal region, the transitional cell carcinoma often with features of squamous cell carcinoma, of the neck: salivary glands, adenocarcinoma of the adenoid cystic variety; of the thyroid, adenocarcinoma of the papillary type; of the larynx, squamous cell carcinoma; and of the lymph nodes, metastatic carcinoma and lymphosarcoma.
