Abstract

Struma ovarii is an ovarian tumor containing thyroid tissue as a predominant cell type. Malignant transformation is rare. The cervical thyroid is usually found to be normal on histology. In a patient who had previously undergone thyroidectomy because of papillary thyroid cancer, we report a case of malignant struma ovarii, which was incidentally detected on a post-therapy radioiodine scan, and was histologically confirmed after adnexectomy.
