Abstract

Thirty-one primary malignant schwannomas of the uterus, epididymis, or cranial and spinal nerve roots were observed in 384 mice of the BRSUNT, STR, and BLCP substrains. The neoplasms from these sites were compared; they had identical histologic features in their primary, metastatic, and transplanted sites. It is evident that some tumors of the uterus, diagnosed in the past as reticulum cell neoplasms type A and as endometrial stromal sarcomas, fall into the category of malignant schwannoma. However, other histologic types of mesenchymal tumors also arise from the uterus.
