Abstract

A case is presented of malignant mixed tumor of the parotid gland. This case showed the following interesting features: (1) the extraordinary duration and size of the primary tumor; (2) histologic pleomorphism of the parotid tumor, ranging from the relatively benign pattern of the so-called “mixed tumor” of the parotid gland to a picture of complete and aggressive anaplasia (the malignant areas made up only a small portion of the huge mass, however); (3) a very rare metastasis from this primary tumor was encountered in the subcutaneous tissues of the tip of the left middle finger.
