Abstract

A 24 year old male presented with increasing dyspnea secondary to diffuse pulmonary metastases. A diagnosis of metastatic malignant granular cell tumor was established by avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex (ABC) method and electron microscopic studies of tissue obtained by open lung biopsy. The primary site of tumor was believed to be in the calf muscle; however, multiple benign granular cell tumors of the skin were previously resected. The patient failed to respond to combination chemotherapy and expired 3 months later. (The J Histotechnol 15:67, 1992)
