Abstract

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary non-hematological bone cancer. OS is a malignant tumor of osteocyte origin. It has two distinct peaks of incidence: among young people (<20 years) in its primary form (predominantly conventional osteosarcoma) and among older patients (>50 years) in its secondary form to Paget’s disease or other bone lesions treated by irradiation. OS is manly located in the long bone (as femur) at the diaphysis. In this paper conventional osteosarcoma and other most common subtypes will be described.
