Abstract

The teratogenic effect of metal-containing nanoparticles on the occurrence of malformations in the mouthpart structures of Chironomus riparius Meigen larvae (Diptera, Chironomidae) was confirmed in a long-term experiment. The proportion of larvae with malformations in all the experimental environments was 2.2–8.4 times higher than the control values. Nanoparticles of silver and titanium dioxide (anatase) had the greatest teratogenic effect, the proportion of chironomid larvae with mouthpart deformities reaching 45.3 and 44.6%, respectively.
