Abstract

A 15-year-old healthy male patient presented with 1 day of severe left calf pain. He denied any recent trauma but reported that 1 month earlier, he had experienced severe left calf cramping while playing football and that the cramping had self-resolved. On examination, the anteromedial aspect of his left tibia was nonerythematous, swollen, tense, and exquisitely tender to palpation. A point-of-care ultrasound scan showed a heterogeneous, oval mass overlying the tibia without color Doppler flow (Figures 1 and 2)1,2 and without a yin-yang sign or to-and-fro sign concerning for pseudoaneurysm.
