Male Genital Tract

Abstract

The male genital tract is a complex set of pelvic anatomic structures. In recent years, MR imaging has assumed an important role as a primary or problem-solving tool for evaluating various congenital and acquired male genital tract disorders in the pediatric population. In this chapter, relevant embryology, anatomy, and variants of male genital tract disorders are described, followed by up-to-date MR imaging techniques and protocols including pediatric patient preparation. In addition, clinically important male genital tract disorders that occur in infants and children are also discussed with emphasis on characteristic MR imaging findings. A clear understanding of MR imaging techniques and characteristic imaging findings of male genital tract disorders has great potential for the optimal pediatric patient care.
