Abstract
Unexplained chronic genital or pelvic pain, usually termed chronic pelvic pain syndrome, is a relatively common clinical entity that affects otherwise healthy men, which may be associated with disruption of sexual relationships and sexual dysfunction. The aetiology and pathogenesis of the condition remain uncertain, and symptoms often fail to respond to medication. This update will discuss recent key developments in our knowledge and understanding of the condition, and will additionally focus on psychological and sexual aspects that are relevant to the management approach.
