Abstract

Malaria continues to be one of India's leading public health problems. About 95% population in the country resides in malaria endemic areas consisting of high burden states the North-Eastern (NE) states, Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand, Gujrat, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Karnataka. In 2013 alone total 881730 malaria cases (463846 cases were falciparum malaria) and 440 deaths were reported. In India, malaria control comes under NVBDCP (National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme) under National Rural Health Mission. The National strategy on malaria control has undergone a paradigm shift with the introduction of new interventions for case management and vector control.
