Abstract

Pakistani school girl Malala Yousafzai has addressed the United Nations as part of her campaign to ensure free compulsory education for every child. She celebrated her 16th birthday by delivering the speech at the UN headquarters in New York. Malala was shot by a Taliban hit man in Pakistan on October 9, 2012 after speaking out in favor of girls’ education. In her speech Malala called on world leaders to provide free, compulsory education for every child,reminding that education, and rights, must be respected, guaranteed and protected.
