Abstract

The procession of carrying out the baritan tradition, the meaning contained in the baritan tradition, and knowing the Islamic view of the baritan tradition. The method used in this study is a qualitative method, using a case study approach. Data collection techniques in this thesis are using interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the baritan tradition is still held by the people of Majener Village. The baritan tradition is a tradition from our ancestors which has been passed down from generation to generation until now, it is still being preserved, no one knows exactly when this tradition was first carried out in Majener. However, according to a traditional leader from Majener Village, the baritan tradition has existed since the transmigration era, namely in 1982, and the community has continued it until now. The baritan tradition is still carried out every year when welcoming the month of Syuro, where the people of Majener Village hold the baritan tradition at intersections or bridges which have become the place for the baritan tradition to be carried out every year. There are several stages that must be carried out in the baritan tradition, namely, the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the closing stage. The symbolic meaning contained in the baritan tradition is, Takir which means container, contains the meaning of contemplation (dhikr). The two Sodos that make up the takir contain the meaning of the two sentences of creed. One chicken egg that contains the meaning of the human heart must always be in one direction, be on one path that cannot be shaken, namely the way to Allah SWT. each other despite differences in race, ethnicity, and religion. Ingkung means that everything in Majener Village will be even better in the coming year. This baritan tradition is not wrong because in the process it involves prayers that are said to Allah SWT. and this tradition is also commonly called alms.
