Abstract

As we age, heavy domestic tasks, including strenuous gardening jobs, can become onerous and often impossible. For many people who enter a care home, there is a sense of relief as home maintenance is no longer their responsibility. There can be, however, a corresponding sense of loss at no longer having the pleasure of tending plants and seeing growth and new life emerge. This need not be the case.
