Abstract

For electronic signatures there is today a gap between reality and popular theory. The reality is that signatures will always be with us because we need a method to show personal approval of a legal commitment. The popular theory, which causes a problem, is that the primary purpose of a signature is not to show a person's approval but rather to confirm her identity.
