Abstract

The key purpose of the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) is to define and describe the knowledge and skills required by NHS staff to carry out their work in order to deliver a high quality service. This is the first part of an article which provides healthcare assistants (HCAs) and the assistant practitioners (APs) working in the NHS with tips to help them get the most out of their annual appraisal. The article offers a brief overview of the KSF and the evidence required for appraisal. Practical tips are provided for before, during and after appraisal. Finally, a check list is presented.
