Abstract

This article addresses the following key points: The revised CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct contain a new rule concerning market manipulation, which went into effect 1 January 2006. The rule applies to all schemes in all financial markets that distort prices or artificially inflate volume through deliberate misinformation or misleading transactions. Intent to mislead will be central to the analysis of future disciplinary cases.
