Abstract

Nonprofit executive directors and staff are usually well versed in the kinds of financial data—such as account balances, revenue projections, expense estimates, budget outlines and other critical info—that help them make decisions and develop organizational strategy. But experts warn that their boards might not be so comfortable with numbers, and may be failing to fully understand what the information means, leading to uninformed decision‐making that could have a deleterious impact on the organization's mission.
