Abstract

A 76-year-old patient experienced a car accident several years earlier that resulted in the loss of his right eye (ocular prosthesis) and a retinal detachment in the left eye, treated with a scleral buckle. A computed tomography scan of his head (Fig A) showed the bilobed left globe separated by a ring hyperdensity (scleral buckle). Ultra-widefield fundus imaging (Fig B) demonstrated the major circular indentation delimiting the anterior and posterior retina. Significant optic disc excavation and myopic maculopathy (stage 4) were noted.
