Abstract

Based on dialectical thinking of the relationship of projects, technologies and sciences, this paper has discussed that major national projects are the driving force of scientific and technological progress. The paper analyzed the fundamental role of technological progress in scientific development with the Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry 2014 as an example; summed up the characteristics of engineering practice in major projects in history and modern science and technology projects with the 6000-year history of engineers as the starting point,analyzed the pulling effect of projects for scientific and technological advancements, summarized the basic properties and modes of interdisciplinary cross-cutting development in today¢s scientific and technological advancements by analyzing the status quo of unreasonable classification of disciplines and majors and establishment of new disciplines in modern institutions of higher learning, and proposed that importance should be attached to the interdisciplinary characteristics and engineering implementation methods of major projects.
