Abstract

The author questions L. C. King's concept of synchronism of geomorphic cycles in the world's platform plains. Comparing available data on denudation surfaces for major platform regions, Meshcheryakov finds that these fall into two basic types associated with their location in the Indian-Atlantic and Pacific zones of the earth's crust. Some common features in the development of the world's high plains are found, as in the case of the African and East Siberian platforms.
