In brief, they identify 3 components—reflective self-assessment, assessment of knowledge and skills, and performance in practice. Their examples include participation in CME, completion of computer-based simulations, and patient or peer surveys. We suggest modifications that should clarify this process.The first component requires critical self-assessment of clinical skills and knowledge necessary for the physician's current practice.
