Abstract

Thus, five main directions in the development of mathematical methods for geological prediction can be distinguished: (1) construction of trend surfaces; (2) regression analysis; (3) discriminant analysis and pattern recognition; (4) methods for dividing geological observations into homogeneous parts; and (5) methods of mathematical logic (Boolean algebra). For each, the following research problems must also be addressed: (1) Development of methods for one-dimensional representation of multidimensional geological data. (2) Selection of the best regressors for decision-making in solving geological problems. (3) Combination of the method of dividing geological objects into homogeneous parts with discriminant function analysis to obtain objective separation of groups of observations used to construct the classification decision rules. (4) Reduction of the search procedure for the best variables that permit division of geological object sets into homogeneous groups.
