Abstract

Four polyethers containing meso-tetraarylporphyrin units in the main chai were prepared. Monomers 5,10-bis(p-hydroxyphenyl)-15,20-bis(p-ethoxyphenyl)porphyrin and 5,10-bis(p-hydroxyphenyl)-15,20-bis(p-methoxyphenyl)porphyrin were prepared and, in order to obtain macromolecules having flexible connections among porphyrin units along the main chain, were treated with linear aliphatic dihalides. The polyethers were characterized. FABMS data about the inclusion of transition metals (Co II, Mn II, Zn II) in the porphyrin units of polyethers are reported
