Abstract
A wealth of sequence analysis and interpretation tools enables interested researchers to inspect, query and, ultimately, interpret DNA sequence data. In the context of sequencing an entire genome, the task of using each tool on each bit of DNA sequence data is daunting (see also Chapters 19, 35 to 39, 42 to 44 and 46). Even more formidable is the task of assessing and reassessing each output from each tool in the light of what is already known. The facts that sequence information in the public databases changes regularly and that new sequence analysis tools appear frequently compound the situation further.
