Abstract

Abstract We report the polarization properties of the Raman spectra of La 2 CuO 4 single crystals and its analogs measured at room temperatures. The broadband with a maximum around 2800–3000 cm -1 observed in the high-frequency Raman spectra of these crystals has been shown to correspond to the two-magnon scattering in CuO 2 -planes.
