Abstract

Honduran Magnoliaceae currently comprise ten species of Magnolia Linnaeus (1753: 535), which display a pattern of allopatric speciation with high (60%) endemism, except for M. hondurensis Molina-Rositto (1974: 95) also found in El Salvador and Guatemala; M. yoroconte Dandy (1930: 147) and M. quetzal Vázquez, Véliz & Tribouillier in Vázquez-García et al. (2013b: 1) shared with Guatemala, recently observed (S. Morales pers. comm.); and M. sororum Seibert in Woodson & Seibert (1938: 828) shared with Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panamá (Vázquez-García 1994, Vázquez-García et al. 2022).
