Abstract
This paper presents a brief history of magnetron development word wide as well as our contribution in this process and effort toward the system development. The simulation results have been reported for 2.45 GHz 10 kW CW magnetron. Based on the simulation a 10 kW magnetron has been developed and tested. The elimination of spurious cavity mode is always a problem in coaxial magnetron. The elimination of unwanted cavity mode in a 200 kW X-band coaxial magnetron using lossy dielectric material at suitable places has been discussed and reported. Further the mode separation at higher frequencies is a challenging problem in magnetron. A detail simulation study has been carried out for a 24 GHz, 50 KW fixed frequency rising sun magnetron. All the simulation works have been carried out using commercially available electromagnetic and particle-in-cell simulation code CST Microwave and particle studio. The effort leading toward the system by us has been also discussed.
