A consistent set of thermodynamically rigorous relationships is derived for the magnetovolume effects in the Stoner model, including specific heat and thermal expansion effects, stressing the importance of Grüneisen parameters. The formalism is applied to an analysis of some experimental data for the Ni 3Al system.
