Abstract
A systematic investigation of the temperature and composition dependence of the magnetostriction of Co x Fe 3- x O 4 single crystals has been carried out using the strain gauge technique. The anisotropy constant K′ 1 has been determined through curve fitting. It is found that the one-ion model is plausible for these materials for x up to 0.4.
