Abstract

High field magnetoresistance ϱ(H) of an antiferromagnet C 6Eu has been investigated for configurations of H | c and Hc. The longitudinal magnetoresistance ϱ 1( H⊥) in H ⊥ c shows a drastic decrease at H co, the metamagnetic transition field of antiferromagnetic (Δ) to ferrimagnetic (FI) state, and an increase at H c1, the transition field of FI to cant state, while the transverse one ϱ t (H ⊥) in H ⊥ c shows a decrease at H co and a decrease at H c1. ϱ 1(H⊥) and ϱ t(H⊥) have a remakable kink at H c2, the highest transitioneld of cant to ferromagnetic (F) state. This configurational difference of magnetoresistance is discussed in relation to the reconstruction of the Fermi surface due to the change of the magnetic ordering. The transverse magnetoresistance ϱ t(H) for (Hc shows a clear anomaly at the transition field to F state, and also other anomalies at lower fields, which have not observed previously. The precise magnetic phase diagrams have been determined.
